RTK drone footage for highly accurate real estate visualizations
For years we have been creating visualizations using drones. We have repeatedly noticed that the altitude information for these visualizations is often inaccurate. Our clients often only provide us with a height above ground, but vegetation or the nature of the terrain can change over time. This leads to discrepancies even when approaching the reference altitude.
Furthermore, commercially available drones determine their altitude solely via GPS and barometer, which can relatively quickly lead to inaccuracies. However, for panoramic shots, the highest precision is crucial, as even a few centimeters can determine whether, for example, the view is of a lake or a building in front – a significant factor when buying real estate.
For this reason, we now offer a specialized service using an RTK drone. This allows us to fly to the desired altitude with an accuracy of a few centimeters (approx. 2-7 cm). The customer no longer needs to specify the altitude above ground level, but only the altitude above sea level (m a.s.l.) and the coordinates. We fly to the desired position precisely along the XYZ axis and create the desired drone footage.

What exactly is an RTK drone?
An RTK ( Real-Time Kinematic ) drone is a drone equipped with specialized technology that enables centimeter-accurate, real-time positioning, far more precise than standard GPS. It utilizes correction data from base stations (e.g., SAPOS or the drone's own reference stations) and multiple satellites to achieve positioning accuracies of less than 1-2 cm. This makes it ideal for surveying, 3D modeling, inspections, and precision agriculture, where accurate data is essential.
Here's how it works:
Standard GPS vs. RTK: Standard GPS has an accuracy of several meters, while RTK increases the precision to centimeters or even millimeters through correction data.
Correction data: A stationary receiver (base station) on the ground receives satellite signals and calculates errors. These corrections are then wirelessly transmitted to the drone.
Two main methods for correction data:
SAPOS (Satellite Positioning Service): Uses mobile communication (SIM card in the controller) for corrections.
Own base station: A dedicated reference station on the ground that knows a very precise position, ideal in areas with poor mobile network reception.

Visualizations for floor views in multi-story buildings or skyscrapers.
Surveying & Mapping: Creation of highly accurate 3D models and orthophotos.
Inspections: Close inspections of structures where precise positioning on the object is important.
Construction: Documentation of construction progress.
